Year11 & 12 Parents Evening / 6th Form Open Evening

Letters have been sent out to all year 11 and year 12 parents and carers inviting them into school to discuss the progress of their child in each subject.

All exam certificates for current year 11 and 12 students will be available for collection from reception during the week beginning Monday 23rd November 2009 between the hours of 4:00pm and 6:00pm. In order to accommodate those students who cannot make these times we will be offering a later collection time until 8:00pm on Tuesday 24th November 2009. Students need to ensure they bring some sort of identification with them and a signature will be needed before exam certificates are handed out. The cost of replacement certificates is £40 so please store them in a safe place once received.

Horbury Wears it BlueOn Monday 16th November, it will be "Wear it Blue" day to launch "Beat Bullying Week". Money raised will go to the Beat Bullying campaign and Children in Need. Horbury School is also taking part in a research project on the ‘Beatbullying’ programme, which is being carried out by researchers at the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton. » Remembrance Day
10th November, 2009

Remembrance DayThe whole school will be observing the 2 minutes silence on 11th November as part of the national Remembrance Day events; this period of silence to reflect on reverent remembrance of the glorious dead will be followed by readings and the playing of "The Last Post"

Horbury Wears it Pink AgainWe're pleased to announce that our staff and students raised 930 pounds towards the Breast Cancer Campaign as a result of our non-uniform day on 20th October

Horbury Wears it Pink AgainWear It Pink Day this year takes place on Tuesday 20th October (tomorrow) - non uniform but you must wear something pink. You should make a donation of 1 pound. Money will be collected on the door in the morning. This in is aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign.



» Additional Study Support Timetables

A time table of after school sessions for year 11 students has been produced and will be shared with students during assembly on 2nd November. These sessions are for students to gain extra support with subject specific staff in preparation for coursework, revision and exams. This timetable can be viewed by clicking here.



» Review Day and Paris Trip Letters
2nd October, 2009

Letters have been sent home with students today regarding the upcoming Review Day on Wednesday 21st October. The attached reply slip should be returned to school by 6th October at the latest.

A letter has also been issued for parents of Year 8 students regarding the trip to Paris in April 2010. Copies of all letters are published on the "Newsletters" page within the Parents section of the website... here.



» Democracy Day
18th September, 2009

On 9th September, Democracy DayHorbury School students took part in a whole school political process to design a new school development plan and school motto.

Students undertook a range of activities that built up their understanding of democracy and politics locally, nationally and globally. They then worked in teams to come up with their own plan or campaign to improve the school and a new motto for the school.

School starts on Tuesday 8th at 8.30 for Year 7 and Year 11 students

Please note that the school has a cashless catering system for which the majority of Year 7 will have subscribed already. Machines will be available in the Atrium to accept cash and notes at breaktime and at lunchtime. Cheques can be taken in the cash office payable to "Horbury School". Those students who have not registered so far can sign up in the restaurant between 9am & 10am on Tuesday.

On Wednesday 9th all students are expected to attend as normal.
